Structured Literacy Course A

Learn the basic neuroscience of how the brain learns to read, write & spell and the neuro-biological factors that can impede the process. This course is a prerequisite for all Structured Literacy ABC coursework. Learn how to assess each component of a student’s literacy proficiency and be given practical strategies and resources to develop foundational skills from Preschool to Kindergarten. It’s All About Sounds. Once they have the sounds they need, watch how quickly they will read!

Upon completion of each course, Participants will be emailed its instructional Program and all accompanying resources.

This course contributes 6 hours of NSW Education Standard Authority (NESA) Registered PD from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Structured Lit B

Structured Literacy Course B

Learn how to systematically introduce the rules associated with the encoding and decoding of English language structures using an explicit multisensory, structured, sequential and cumulative approach so that reading, writing and spelling are taught simultaneously. Participants will be walked through the scope and sequence of 30 units. Each unit includes a phonemic awareness activity, single-word reading and spelling, dictated sentences, a decodable reading passage and a writing activity.

Upon completion of each course, Participants will be emailed its instructional Program and all accompanying resources.

This course contributes 6 hours of NSW Education Standard Authority (NESA) Registered PD from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Structured Literacy Course C

Learn strategies and receive resources to develop students’ reading fluency, critical comprehension, metacognition, and spelling proficiency (Morphology- Derivational Relations). Integrate writing activities across the curriculum and use proven scaffolding strategies to develop children’s writing composition and self-evaluation, using Teacher and Peer Scoring Guides. Learn practical ways to make the classroom a productive, containing and collaborative environment.
